Welcome! I'm Jeffrey Blum, an LPCC and somatic therapist. I help people navigate anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and personal growth by combining traditional psychotherapy with body awareness and mindfulness.
My Approach
Sometimes we understand why we're struggling, yet still find ourselves caught in the same patterns. Other times, we move through life so quickly that we lose touch with what we're feeling, needing, or carrying in our bodies.
I believe we all develop ways of thinking, feeling, and relating that help us navigate life's experiences. Often, those patterns make perfect sense when we understand what they were helping us through. Rather than asking what's wrong with you, I'm interested in becoming curious about how those patterns developed, what purpose they've served, and whether they're still helping you live the life you want today.
My approach combines thoughtful conversation with mindfulness and body awareness to help you better understand yourself and develop greater flexibility, self-compassion, and choice. My goal isn't to tell you who to become, but to create a space where meaningful change can emerge at a pace that feels authentic and sustainable.
How Somatic Therapy Works
Conversation is an important part of therapy, but it isn't the only way we come to understand ourselves. Sometimes words bring us closer to our experience. Other times, they can keep us at a distance from it.
In our work together, we may occasionally slow down and notice what's happening as you speak - your breath, posture, body sensations, emotions, or impulses. Rather than trying to force change, we become curious about what your experience is communicating. As awareness grows, so does your capacity to respond with greater flexibility instead of automatic reaction.
